A Response to Coronavirus 2020
At first I was thinking there has been nothing in my life that matches what is happening now. In many ways I was right, but there are ways in which my life has been leading up to the ability to navigate the current challenges.
Many have commented on the craziness of the hoarding that is taking place with regard to things like toilet paper. My habit has been to note when we get down to the last roll or two and the next trip to the grocery store purchase some more. I have not begun to panic at this point, but I am hopeful that in the next few days I can happen upon a store that actually has some on the shelf.
I am trying to remain steady on my course of some sort of normalcy, that is to continue through life doing what I would normally do. I take the dogs for a walk in the morning. I work on whatever project I am working on without too many distractions. I know there are many others who do not have that luxury. My heart goes out to teachers, law enforcement, medical personnel, waiters and waitresses, small business owners, and the list could go on for a long time
As the pastor of Parker United Methodist Church it weighs heavily on my heart that we are not having “normal” worship services for the near future. This is one area that I will have to make some changes. We have streamed live for quite some time with few interruptions. Lately we have been having challenges getting our Facebook stream online. facebook.com/parkerumc Once I get through with this post I will be working on making sure it is working.
